The death of a spouse is heartbreaking, and financial worries can make the experience even more stressful. To help people handle this difficult situation, Pinnacle Financial Advisors Founding Partner Lennard van der Feltz sat down with CBS 5 to discuss important financial considerations when planning for the unfortunate death of a partner.
Lennard noted that if the spouse who dies normally handled the finances, it can be overwhelming – and difficult – for the surviving spouse to take over all responsibilities, including gaining access to accounts. He stresses the importance of saving all passwords in a place both spouses can access, so the surviving spouse can continue to pay bills and manage finances.
