- If you could travel to any destination, where would you go and why?
- Patagonia, South America. Patagonia has raw wilderness and some of the most diverse landscapes in the world. It is an explorer’s paradise and I would love to ship an expedition vehicle to the region and travel down the coast of Argentina, Chile, and throughout the Andes Mountains. There is excellent fishing and an abundance of wildlife that would be awesome to view and experience.
- Where can we find you on a weekend?
- White Mountain Summer Homes in Pinetop, Ariz. Pinetop is a sleepy town in northeastern Arizona that is situated at 6800’ in elevation. There are four distinct seasons with the fall and winter being our family’s favorite times of year. Pinetop has excellent golf, hiking, fishing, and snow skiing. There is something magical about the afternoon thunderstorms and the clean, brisk air.
- What is your favorite destination in the United States? (can be a city/town, a restaurant, a trail, etc.)
- Sedona, Ariz. is where I proposed to my wife Jami, got married, and where we have vacationed for two weeks a year for the past two decades. We love Oak Creek and the beautiful red rocks only found in Sedona. It is a very peaceful and spiritual place for our family.
- Where did you grow up, and how has that impacted you today?
- I grew up in Toledo, Ohio. My parents were educators with an entrepreneurial spirit. Having weekends and summers off, they decided to take out a loan on a 50-passenger tour boat, providing entertainment and explaining the rich history of the Maumee River from a historical and economic standpoint. During the evenings, they would book private parties and corporate events. My brother, Skip, and I would work summers and every Saturday as deck hands, providing us the opportunity to regularly interact with adults, earn money on our own, and learn how to be financially independent at a young age. The invaluable and unique lessons learned in Toledo shaped the foundation we have both built upon to become successful leaders.
