Meet Cassandra van der Feltz, a team support specialist in Pinnacle’s Tempe office. When she’s not working with Pinnacle’s team of financial planners to find new ways to improve the client experience, you may find Cassandra enjoying a good book or learning a new language.
What was your dream job when you were 12 years old?
I wanted to be a ballet dancer. I love expressing a story through body movement and enjoy the feeling of being in tune with every muscle in my body.
Where did you grow up, and how has that impacted you today?
I spent my childhood in Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan, and spent my teenage years in Arizona. Living in those places helped me realize the diversity of climates, environments, and cultures within the USA.
What is your favorite book?
If I may only pick one, then it is Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. I always notice something new every time I read it.
Do you have a hobby? If so, what is it?
One of my hobbies is photo restoration. I like learning about family history that way and enjoy seeing people’s smiles when I restore a precious memory to them.
If you didn’t have to work, how would you fill your days?
I would spend time learning a wide range of European, Afroasiatic, and Asian languages and learning about their cultures.
If you woke up as an animal, what animal would you be and why?
I would be an eagle, so I could enjoy soaring freely.
What is your favorite sport (either to watch or to participate in)?
Ballet. I also enjoy watching figure skating, synchronized swimming, and rhythmic gymnastics during the winter and summer Olympics.
Where did you go on your most recent vacation and what did you like most about it?
Lake Powell, on the border of Arizona and Utah. There is beautiful nature as far as the eye can see and no mosquitoes!
Are you extroverted or introverted?
What was your favorite subject in grade school?
Literature. My mother read books by C.S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, and Madeleine L'Engle aloud to me and my siblings, which sparked my love for stories.
